From baby photos to favorite songs – how a desired motif becomes a cake moment

Why some designs say more than a thousand sugar fonts.

Recently, I received a request that I love:

"Hi, I have an idea for my dad's 50th birthday... He owns an Italian restaurant, loves pasta, coffee, and old-school Italian music—and we'd like to do something with the TikTok trend "Italian Brainrot ." Is that possible?"

Is that possible? Oh yes. And this is where the magic of custom designs begins .

Desired motifs – a little commission, a lot of feeling

Every individual motif that I am allowed to implement is like a small creative adventure.
Because it's never just about a picture – it's about a story, a person, a memory. Sometimes even a favorite song or a quirk that simply has to be captured – ideally on sugar paper.

Enzo's family wanted to incorporate everything that defines him – Italian flair, retro look, espresso, scooter and humor.
The result: a detailed A4 topper with a tongue-in-cheek Italian chaos, pasta graphics, and a small record player in the corner.
Signature: “Ciao Ragazzi – 50 years of Enzo style” .
The look on his face when the cake came to the table? All I can say is: it was a goosebump-inducing moment.

This is how a desired motif is created for table and cake

Maybe you're wondering how such a design actually comes about?
Here’s a little look behind the scenes:

  1. Your idea
You write to me what you have in mind – no matter how specific or vague. Keywords, colors, occasion – anything helps.

  2. First draft
I develop two or three variations. Some straightforward, some playful. You can experiment.

  3. Feedback session
You tell us what you like – or don't like. Changes? No problem. The design is yours.

  4. Finalization & Printing
Once everything's in place, it goes to high-quality food printing. And shortly after, it's sent to you.

Desired motif means: This is you. Or someone you love.

Whether for a child’s birthday, an engagement, the last day of work or a crazy theme:
Custom motifs give the occasion a framework that is not available on the store shelf.
And sometimes they tell more than a gift.

When I see the motif one last time after printing, I often think:
“I don’t know this person, but I know someone really likes him.”

Life is too short for boring cakes – no frills. Just wow.
